International Women’s Day Celebrations – WEC, MVGRCE
The Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) of MVGR College of Engineering (Autonomous) celebrated International Women’s Day on 7th March 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from students, faculty, and staff.
The celebrations commenced with a Walkathon, organized in association with the Andhra Pradesh State Women’s Commission (APSWC) under the theme “Honouring the Warrior Within.” The initiative aimed to create awareness about women’s empowerment and to inspire a spirit of strength, resilience, and confidence among participants.
The program was graced by Prof. Y. M. C. Sekhar, Principal, as the Chief Patron. The event also featured distinguished guests including Ms. P. Sudha Sankari, Project Manager, Infosys, and esteemed alumna Ms. R. Sahaja Messie Evangeline. Faculty members, students, and WEC members actively participated in the celebrations.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Y. M. C. Sekhar emphasized the importance of empowering women through education, self-confidence, and leadership. The Chief Guest, Ms. Sudha Sankari, highlighted the challenges faced by students in today’s competitive environment and encouraged them to focus on practical application of knowledge, strong communication skills, and ethical values. Alumna Ms. Sahaja inspired the audience by sharing her professional journey, including her achievement of securing a rank in APPSC and her selection as a District Employment Officer.
The celebrations also featured a wide range of competitions that showcased the creativity, intellect, and teamwork of participants. Events such as Collage Making, Essay Writing, Elocution, Crossword Puzzle, Problem Solving Relay, Group Discussions, Throw Ball, Badminton, Tennikoit, and Chess were conducted with enthusiastic participation.
The program concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, recognizing winners across various competitions, followed by vibrant cultural performances by students, making the event both meaningful and memorable.
